SUMMER DAY CAMP

CEP & CREATIVE ADVENTURES, GRADES K-8

This summer, your child has the opportunity to explore the world with new and old friends! Campers will experience the sights and sounds of countries from around the world, swim the Y's Calypso Cove Water Park and enjoy weekly, theme-filled activities focused on multicultural exploration. We offer rates based upon 1-3 days or 4-5 days of attendance. All site locations are tentative and subject to change.

SUMMER CAMP KICKOFF/PARENT ORIENTATION

Take the opportunity to learn about how rewarding Summer Camp can be, get to know your camp director and summer staff, learn about exciting summer field trips and activities and take a tour of your Camp site! Join us for Creative Adventures Summer Camp Kickoff and Parent Orientation on Thursday, May 19, 2016 and the Childcare Enrichment Program Summer Camp Kickoff and Parent Orientation on Tuesday, May 24, 2016. Each camp location will hold their Kickoffs at their individual sites with two convenient sessions of your choice; one from 6-6:45 PM and another from 6:45-7:15 PM.

SUMMER CAMP THEMES

Each of our camp locations independently chooses their themes for each week from the list below. Get an idea of some of the exciting things we're planning for your child's summer!

China: Explore the Great Wall of China, make a Chinese paper lantern, and take a taste of China as we explore the country with the biggest population in the world.
Egypt: Learn how to write in hieroglyphics, learn Arabic, and head down the Nile while making crocodiles as we explore one of the world's first great civilizations.
Italy: Did you know that spaghetti didn't originate in the land of pizza and the gondola? This week, learn fun facts about both ancient and modern Italy as we explore music and dance, make Venetian masks and celebrate carnevale!
Greece: Celebrate the Olympic Games, sample Greek cuisine, explore Homer's Odyssey, and make Greek masks as we explore the Western world's founding philosophical societies.
USA: Explore the land of amber waves of grain while you craft the Statue of Liberty, eat red, white and blue, play some baseball, and explore the rich history of the United States.
Kenya: This week, take a safari, learn about Kenyan ethnic groups, make warrior shields and play Kenyan games as you explore this East African country.
India: Wear saris, learn about Indian celebrations, play pallanguli, and explore the vibrant food of one of the world's most spiritually diverse countries.
Mexico: Get up close and personal with the land of the Aztecs and Mayas as we explore Mexico's fun and colorful foods, make pinatas for our Mexican fiesta, make a volcano and learn about Mexican myths.

LICENSING

All of our Y Summer Camps and locations are licensed by the state of Kentucky and are eligible for various third-party childcare reimbursements provided by 3-C, Foster Care, United Way, etc. Contracts must be provided at the time of registration to receive the discounted weekly fee.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

YMCA CAMP PIOMINGO OVERNIGHT CAMP

YMCA Camp Piomingo has been providing community, friendship and fun for over 75 years! You'll build relationships and self-confidence while forming other skills too, from horseback riding, rock climbing and swimming to art and drama. We have so many things for you to explore.
